SyncWords at a glance
SyncWords is a media-language platform for live streams, events, broadcast, OTT, and video on demand. Its product presentation is explicit about output types: same-language captions, translated subtitles, AI voice in another language, and separate automated file dubbing. That distinction helps a team define what a viewer will receive. A caption track is text, a subtitle track is translated text, an AI voice translation is live audience audio, and a generated file dub is a post-production asset. They should not be substituted in a production specification.
For live work, the official embeddable-player page describes live AI captioning in 50-plus languages, live AI subtitling into 100-plus languages, and live AI voice dubbing with more than 900 AI voice options for 50-plus translated languages. The site also calls the output “AI voice translations.” This profile uses that delivery description: it is live translated or synthesized audience audio through the player, not evidence that every broadcast transport receives a permanently substituted multilingual master soundtrack. Confirm the intended route and format with the vendor.
Live path and delivery
SyncWords Live is native live functionality because it processes an active event or stream and makes outputs available while the program runs. The home page lists SRT/MPEG-TS, CMAF ingest, HLS, and RTMP among delivery paths, with EIA-608, WebVTT, DVB, Teletext, and TTML outputs. Its player page says the player can be placed in virtual-event contexts and major web browsers on desktop and mobile. It documents a live API for automated event setup, service updates, monitoring, authentication, and integration into live-streaming software.
These options require system design. An embedded player differs from a broadcast caption sidecar, and neither automatically provides the same experience as an attendee QR code. Decide where captions appear, where translated subtitles are selected, where translated audio is heard, and whether the video platform permits the required player or metadata. Test a representative HLS, RTMP, or real source with the actual destination; include mobile browsers, login, audio-device selection, and fallback access.
The platform supports live human captioning as well as AI captioning. Its player description says human captioning may be more accurate in some circumstances and lets users use SyncWords captioners or their own team. Make that a risk decision, not a universal AI claim. Prepare custom ASR dictionaries, names, terms, and pronunciation-sensitive material, then test speech, accents, music, interruption, and crosstalk. Vendor timing language is not used here as an SLA; end-to-end delay needs a rehearsal in the target chain.
Usage and post-production
SyncWords documents live billing as active connection time plus generated outputs. Its example says one hour of English captions, French and Spanish subtitles, and French audio translation counts as four output-hours. Adding languages and audio can change consumption even when the source duration is unchanged. Reviewed pages do not state a durable free live allowance, so free access is unknown. The public pricing page lists VOD caption and translation rates, but those on-demand rates are not a quote for live delivery.
The company also sells pre-recorded captioning, translated subtitles, and automated file dubbing. These are useful localization workflows, but do not prove a completed file can be turned around in real time. Separate a live event from its after-event archive, review, burn-in, and dubbed-file needs.
